SCDD: Black History Month February 1 – March 1California State Council on Developmental Disabilities

“Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by Americans of African descent and a time for recognizing their central role in the history of the United States—which is grounded in resistance to oppression and inequality. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.

The theme for Black History Month 2023, “Black Resistance.” explores how “Black Americans have resisted historical and ongoing oppression, in all forms, especially the racial terrorism of lynching, racial pogroms, and police killings,” since the nation’s earliest days.”
