Participant, age 9:
Siblings of people with disabilities often represent themselves as the only person who has a sibling with a disability and Sibshops tells you that you are not the only one who has a sibling that has a disability. I love you for Sibshops.
Parent:
Sibshops provides a safe and inclusive environment for my son. He can be open about his feelings about having a sibling diagnosed with asd- the good and the bad. He gets to connect with other kids who can relate, which leads to understanding and support that cannot be found anywhere else. It works to eliminate feelings of isolation through creating a community unlike any other. He’s an amazing kid and brother, and Sibshops has been a very helpful experience for him, and our family as a whole.
Participant, age 10:
I like learning about how other kids with autistic siblings work with their brothers or sisters. I like to play games and have fun with everyone. We like talking about the cute and silly things my brother does but it’s nice to also be able to talk about the hard stuff.
